There are two types of people in the world. Those who plan in advance, and those who don't. My husband and I are in advance planners, especially when it comes to the month of October which is when we try to sneak in as many fall and Halloween themed family events with our son as possible. If you're as excited as we are to get out and enjoy some safe Halloween fun with your kiddos, here are some ideas of things you can do with your littles in and around Binghamton.

  • Downtown Binghamton Halloween Parade

    When: Saturday, October 26th, at 12 p.m.
    Where: Downtown Binghamton- from the Arthur/Main intersection to the courthouse.
    What: Strut your stuff and maybe win a cool prize! Whether you're an individual, a family, a business, or an organization, you're invited to walk with Townsquare Media for free in our Halloween parade, but you will need to fill out the online participation form (by October 11th)!  Don't want to walk, that's cool! Bring a chair and watch the parade from the sidewalk!

  • Halloween Parade and Party

    When: Saturday, October 26th from 3:15 p.m. to  5 p.m.
    Where: Village Green in Marathon
    What: A free Halloween parade. Parade line up is at 3:15 pm on the Village Green with the parade beginning at 3:30 pm. Following the parade, there will be costume judging and games at the Civic Center.

  • Insectapalooza

    When: Saturday, October 19th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    Where: Comstock Hall- 2114 Comstock Hall, Ithaca
    What: A one-day creepy, crawly insect fair hosted by the Department of Entomology at Cornell University which will include a butterfly room and anthropoid zoo. Admission rates apply.

  • Trick or Treat, Take a Seat

    When: Friday and Saturday, October 25th-26th at 7 p.m.
    Where: EPAC- 102 Washington Ave, Endicott
    What: A trick or treat candy collecting adventure, followed by a Halloween show. Admission rates apply.

  • Monster Mash Halloween

    When: Saturday, October 19th from 1p.m. to 3 p.m.
    Where: Arnold Park-Andrews Road in Vestal.
    What: Annual Monster Mash Halloween, put on by the Town of Vestal. Open to kids of all ages, this event will feature a hay maze, treat bags for all kids, cider and donuts and more. All activities are outdoors.

  • Binghamton Macaroni Kid Trunk or Treat

    When: Sunday, October 27th, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
    Where: Dublin's Adventure Resort- 942 Conklin Rd., Conklin
    What: A safe and friendly place for parents to take their little ones trunk-or-treating. There will also be haunted mini-golf, a bounce house, game truck, DJ, crafts and more!

  • Flashlight Safari Trick or Treat

    When: Friday, October 18, 19, and 20 at various times.
    Where: Animal Adventure- Martin Hill Road, Harpursville.
    What: Bring your flashlight, candy bag, and costume and take your self on a self- guided flashlight safari. Trick or treat stations will be set around the park and stocked with treats. While this event is geared more toward older kids, it will not be scary. There will be no jumping out or shocking people. There will also be a daytime version for kids who don't do so well in the dark. Admission rates apply. 

  • Trunk or Treat Spectacular

    When: Sunday, October 27th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
    Where: Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church- Upper Front Street, Binghamton
    What: Vendors, games, a costume parade, bounce house, and of course...candy!

  • YMCA Trunk or Treat

    When: Saturday, October 26th from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
    Where: West Family YMCA- Main Street, Johnson City
    What: Trick-or-treating, swimming, human bowling and more. Admission rates apply.

  • Howloween at the Zoo

    When: October 5 and 6 and October 12 and 13
    Where: Binghamton Zoo- Morgan Rd., Binghamton
    What: Games, crafts, candy, and prizes. Admission rates apply.

  • Stoughton Farm Corn Maize

    When: Seven days a week through October 31st
    Where: Stoughton Farm- State Route 38, Newark Valley
    What: The MAiZE will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 9 AM to 5 PM Sunday (Last admission ½ hour before closing each day). Admission rates apply. 

  • Haunted Museum Tours

    When: Every Friday and most Saturdays in October
    Where: Roberson Museum and Science Center-
    30 Front St, Binghamton
    What: A tour of the Roberson to explore the hidden lore within its walls. Admission rates apply and you will need to make a reservation.

  • Family Halloween Party

    When: Saturday, October 12th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
    Where: Broome County Public Library, 185 Court Street, Binghamton
    What: Wear your best costume and enjoy Halloween music, games, and crafts. This event is open to kids of all ages.

  • Monster Bash

    When: Saturday, October 12th from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    Where: Trout Ponds Park, 26 Ready Ave Newark Valley
    What: FREE is the theme of thing family-friendly event. There will be hayrides, vendors and exhibits, a flea market, a free to enter costume contest for both kids and adults, bounce houses, music and so much more.

  • Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat

    When: Sunday, October 20th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
    Where: Otsiningo Park, 1 Otsiningo Park, Binghamton.
    What: Trunk or Treating from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. There will also be food, activities for the kids, a dog costume contest, face painting and more. Admission is free.

  • STIC Trunk or Treat

    When: Saturday, October 26th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
    Where: Southern Tier Independence Center, 135 East Frederick St, Binghamton.
    What: Kids can go from trunk to trunk collecting candy.

  • Shake Your Bones Dance Party and Trick-or-Treat Spooktacular

    When: Saturday, October 26th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
    Where: The Discovery Center of the Southern Tier, 60 Morgan Rd, Binghamton.
    What: The “Shake Your Bones Dance Party” begins at 1 p.m., the costume parade at 2:15 p.m. and the trick-or-treating is from 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Admission rates apply.

  • Shimmering Slime, Kid's Painting Class

    When: Tuesday, October 29th from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
    Where: Uncorked Creations Binghamton, 205 State St 2nd & 3rd Floors, Binghamton
    What: You and your kids will enjoy the chance to paint a witchy “Shimmering Slime” painting on 11×14 canvas! All supplies, instruction, and Halloween-themed snacks are included. Admission rates apply.

  • Parent Night Out and Halloween Costume Party!

    When: Saturday, October 26th from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
    Where: KO's Just Move, 1019 Middle Stella Ireland Road, Binghamton.
    What: Drop your kids off for food drunks, bounce house, dancing, and even a costume contest. Admission rates apply.

  • Trunk or Treat at UUCB

    When: Thursday, October 31st from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
    Where: Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Binghamton, 183 Riverside Dr, Binghamton.
    What: Candy and non-candy treats will be handed out at this trunk or treat event. There will also be cider, donuts, and more.
